Despite all the talk about AI, cloud, and hardware innovation… advertising still pays the bills for tech’s biggest players:
Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp):
→ In Q2 2025, 98% of Meta’s revenue came from advertising, that’s $46.3 billion out of $47.5 billion.
Even with investments in the metaverse and AI, the core business is still ad dollars.
Google (Alphabet):
→ In Q2 2025, 77% of Alphabet’s revenue came from ads, including Search, YouTube, and the Google Display Network.
That’s $65.5 billion of their $85.5 billion total.
Cloud and hardware are growing, but Search still funds the empire.
